Addisyn Moloney

WHO AM I ??
Hi my name is Addisyn Jane Moloney. I am 14 years old . I have been a Mad Wave South Africa brand ambassador for over a year now . I am a Aqua Warriors senior swimmer and I go to Marais Viljoen High. I am also the youngest accredited motoring journalist in the world, starting at 8 years old in 2018, and working my way up to be alongside my dad doing motorsport commentary and social media for various different classes in South Africa.
GOALS:
BIG GOALS :
•My biggest goal is making the South African Olympic swimming team and one day representing SA internationally.
•I want to be able to travel the world and my wish is that my swimming career will allow me to do that.
•I want to one day own my own swimming club and teach young and old how to swim (especially because approximately 85% or more of South Africans do not possess basic swimming skills and or are not water safe)
I would also like to coach swimmers, who would be interested in swimming competively like I am currently.
INTERIM GOALS :
•After coming out of my shoulder injury I would like to be able to swim butterfly and backstroke more confidently again.
•Get over 70% for all my subjects for my term 2 marks and in doing so make the subject choices for Grd 10 to 12 a little easier.
•To improve my PB’s at the up coming winter swim meets.
•Medal at these same swimming galas .
•Increase my Instagram and Tiktok following by creating awesome content and share it with my partners and in turn grow all our reach on the platforms.
WHAT IS MY WHY??
Swimming is my home. It’s where I feel the most like myself. It’s a place where I can take out all my emotions and stress that might come up during the day.
Its my place of peace too because under the water all you can hear is you and your own thoughts and dreams.
I will always go back to swimming no matter how difficult it is mentally or physically. Swimming makes me feel safe and its taught me so much about myself. I have gone through so much with my shoulder injury and was even thinking about how worth it swimming would be if I stopped, but how much more worth it it would be if I powered through the pain.
And in doing so I continue to learn on how to keep trying , to keep striving for my goals.
I want to enjoy my journey and swimming, even at it’s toughest make every race make me a better swimmer than I was the last time I raced, and therefore, I believe an even better person, and hopefully someone who inspires others too.
I’d love if someone came up to me one day and said something like “because of you, I never gave up!”
That’s my why!
